Heliscope™ Sequencer Operation

print page   |   email page

The HeliScope™ Single Molecule Sequencer is operated by a graphical user interface that is simple and easy to navigate.  The touch screen guides you through all necessary steps of run setup including naming, selecting the experiment script, starting a run, monitoring progress, and downloading data files.

Learning the intuitive interface requires minimal training, improving productivity of new users and reducing the overall costs of ownership.  The integrated industrial design does not require a separate computer or keyboard, and allows for future enhancements through software upgrades.

Starting a run requires only a few simple steps:

1. Begin by creating a unique name to identify your run.
The default run name includes the current date.
Use the convenient touch screen key pad to insert additional characters or modifications to assist in identifying your run.

2. Specify run parameters.

Select a pre-configured experiment script for your application from a simple drop down list and confirm.

Scripts drive the operation of the Sequencer, including control over fluidics and imaging parameters.

 3. Load the two flow cells containing your samples.

The display provides you with clear visual assistance for positioning flow cells.

The system confirms proper placement and automatically scans and reads flow cell barcodes.

4. Next, scan and load the reagents.

Reagents are packaged as cartridges for simplified loading.

The interface highlights the proper location for each reagent cartridge, and uses different colors to indicate the status of reagent loading.

5. Press Start Run.

6. The system performs a series of pre-run checks, and then automatically determines the optimal camera focus.

Confirm the camera focus target values for your sample, and begin sequencing billions of individual DNA strands!

7. View status and control the Sequencer during your run.

Manage your lab’s resources more effectively with access to detailed status information such as start time, run and script names, percent completion, and flow cell related parameters.

Monitor run status directly from the HeliScope Sequencer itself, or from anywhere using the HeliScope™ Control Center.
