DNA sequencing is taking center stage as a powerful tool in decoding genetic information. According to Helicos BioSciences, their single-molecule sequencing technology will be ready for commercialization in late 2007. Its first-generation instrument is expected to deliver 109 bases per day and a price advantage over current Sanger sequencing methods.
