Linux System Administrator, High Performance Computing

Reports to:
Director, IT

Position Overview:
Helicos BioSciences Corporation is seeking a Linux System Adminstrator to manage its High Performance Computing environments. Using Sun Grid Engine (SGE) along with Condor Clustering technologies, the SA will facilitate High Throughput Computing (HTC) for various development groups within the organization. This role is available for contract or permanant opportunities.


Primary Responsibilities:
•Working directly with the Bioinformatics group and the software developer group, the Linxu Systems Administrator will design, develop and maintain high performance clustering environments that suits both groups and others wishing to utilize the environment.
•Candidate will also perform other duties as assigned in order to assist with network management and help desk functions as demand dictates.

Qualifications
•Five or more years experience with high performance computing hardware, multi-core processors, Intel, AMD and RISC; various linux and Windows operating systems, both 32bit and 64bit; driver support for hardware components
•Must keep up with the latest of technologies but be able to recommend the most reliable, tried and true systems and infrastructure components
•Five or more years experience working with redundant technologies, various Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) technologies and best practices; Windows 2003 x64 Server, Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5, OnStor and IBM GPFS required

Individual Characteristics:
•Candidate must be a self started, reliable, be highly motivated and be able to make decisions and be successful with little direction
